Mary simpson has held the contract for the expo food and beverage for 12 years. She has always delivered top of the line professionalism and only the highest quality product .Her and her crew have gone above and beyond to make the expo stand above all surrounding event centers ,. She fell prey to a political personal vendetta and the commissioners court voted her out and are taking it over to run it themselves . So they could take over the food and alcohol sales. After years of fighting the judge and commissioners, being told when she could and could not open to sell food to the public, them putting food trucks directly outside the backdoors of the expo intentionally trying to take business from her. Amongst many other trials they threw at her, one of those being refusing to clean her hood fan. Which is not only a state law but is also clearly written out in her contract as their responsibility. She continued to pour her heart and soul into the expo center in every way. Not only in her love for providing fresh, homemade food, but also providing her knowledge at events from being apart of the rodeo family herself for 18 years. She closed down weekly jackpots at the expo for 12 years playing the role of an event tech so the county didn't have to pay one to be there. Never once asking for compensation. The commissioners nor the judge asked to see one number on her side to see if them taking over the concession would even be a smart business move for the community. She owns almost all of the equipment and the she pays all of the concession staff herself. They are not county employees. She also holds her own liquor license. All of these things will now be an added expense of your tax dollars. There have been numbers thrown out about what she pays annually in rent. I would like to add what she pays in rent the judge and commissioners came up with that number themselves which is MORE than what she was paying when she was commission based. We would all be so humbled as not only fans of Turn N Burn but also Mary Simpson as a person if we could get your signatures in an effort to keep homemade food and the upmost professionalism in the expo center.

We love the turn and burn food and eat there every time we go to an event. We will be extremely disappointed if the turn in burn leaves the expo. We love the jalapeno burger they serve and hope it's still around to enjoy for years to come
We understand that Mary Simpson and the Turn N Burn cafe have been a huge asset to the Expo and to the community. We do NOT understand the County Commissioners’ decision. We will be following this issue closely and will remember the outcome at election time.
Restore Mary’s contract and let her customers continue to love and enjoy supporting this local business. She’s done outstanding work. Uphold your part of the contract by cleaning the vents and making repairs. Then let her do her and her employees continue to serve and bless others.
I grew up in Glen Rose and have known Mary for over 20 years. She has always had the kindest heart and made the most amazing food. I always make sure when I’m in town and at events that I eat at the concession and support her. I am very saddened to see the decision for her to be removed. I hope y’all will reconsider.

It is one thing to have a reasonable justification to make changes, it is quite another to try and tarnish a business owners image and reputation and insult their quality of service and integrity in order to attempt to get your way! Very disappointed in our county elected officials for not just being honest about their intentions.
