Marlene is awesome. She made 1L year me feel more comfortable. She is great at running the store and helping out. She is also great and making the students feel welcome. She helps personalize the school.

My first semester of law school was extremely difficult for me and I was not sure if I would continue to endure. Marlene, found me on campus and gave me a spectacular pep talk, she was extremely encouraging, and thoughtful. La Verne College of Law is not a normal law school, we are unique in so many ways! One of those ways is that Marlene in the bookstore was always there with a warm smile, and a positive attitude!

Although ULV COL has made a lot of ridiculous decisions regarding faculty, staff and admin, getting rid of Marlene would be one of the worst! Marlene is a compassionate, smart, talented and sweet woman. She is a Mom away from home for many students. Marlene is an asset to the College of Law, keep her where she belongs!

I worked at ULV College of Law and one of my greatest memories and enjoyments was working with Marlene. Marlene is the heart and soul of the law school. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does. It's not about her, it is always about the students and also the other staff who work there. If you need just a word of encouragment, support or just a smile you know that you can go to Marlene. To take Marlene out of the law school will not only take some of the major life out of the school but will leave the students without one of the number 1 supporters. Marlene is irreplaceable. Marlene takes great pride at the Law School and her job. She is where she belongs and should be there to continue to support the students at ULVCOL.

There were two stand outs that made the culture at LaVerne so phenomenal: that all staff members went to great effort to know every student by name and Marlene. Some valuable things can't be measured in dollars and cents.

Marlene is amazing. She has such a kind heart. I purchase items from the bookstore just to say hello to her. She always puts a smile on my face, especially when I am feeling down. I feel as if I have lost a family members and will not return to the bookstore until Marlene returns.

Marlene was the heart and soul of ULV College of Law is the simple truth. From providing emotional support, candy bars and energy drinks, and even to suggesting which supplements were helpful for other students - she did it all. She created the safe space for me and many other student to get through the craziness of law school. Please keep Marlene.

Marlene is my aunt. She has worked at the bookstores for years. I dont see her often..wish I did..but when I do she speaks of the bookstore and of how much she loves working there and enjoys the students. She is beautiful, intelligent, kind-hearted and generous to others. I feel you would lose much business by doing away with such a hard working, dedicated and sincere employee.

Whenever I'm in town I stop by the College of Law just to buy a coke from Marlene and hear about life at the COL. She remembers me, and everyone whose ever come thru her door. She is a legend.

The atmosphere of a law school can be such an unnatural emotional environment where students are often plagued by ever-mounting stress coupled with no time for family and friends. Having a constant ally who understands the environment and is there to lend a ear and a supportive word when you feel your most demoralized is truly a precious asset. Couple that with someone who can recommend the best brain food for an all-night study session or the best academic supplement for your course and you really have found yourself invaluable member of the law school staff. Marlene really is all of that. I cannot imagine getting through law school without her. On multiple occasions, I found myself in the bookstore just for the emotional support. She was always there to ask how my family was doing and if my pet's vet appointment went well. Please reconsider uprooting her from an environment that is so dependent on her great heart and commitment to the students.

Marlene is ULVCOL! She is the reason the school spirit never died in that building, and the Beacon of hope that gave so many students the ability to stick it out and believe in themselves. She saved my life in so many ways! ULVCOL do whatever it takes, but keep Marlene there!

Marlene is just as much a part of what makes ULV great as the professors are. She is one of the key reasons I kept my sanity--between help with books, keeping stock of the "brain food" she knew students preferred, lending a sympathetic ear, lending her photo wall so I could actually SEE my kid while I was studying...the list goes on. She's invaluable to the school. She was often the only place in ULV COL where I was always a *person* and not just a random student. Marlene is an invaluable asset to the students, and therefore is an invaluable asset to the school.
