Just make a new hero instead of destroying the old one. This is lazy writing.

This is a very well-written petition with many points that I couldn't articulate myself. If I could highlight:
"The very fact that you have to turn one of your biggest male characters into a girl for that purpose means you believe you have to use the popularity of a male character to ensure the success of a female,"
I would.
I find the thought of such a thing being done offensive.
I do, however, disagree with the assertions that it would be an atrocity for Thor to be unworthy of Mjolnir; as a well-rounded character, he will have his flaws and faults, and may certainly at times have lapses of worthiness. Several other characters have wielded Mjolnir in the past, indeed, even women. This can create very interesting story opportunities, WITHOUT damaging the integrity of any existing, developed, and well-loved character.

Absolute trash. Why cant they leave the classic characters alone? Totally sick of this.
