Mr Luscombe was the reason that I passed advanced math. DMCS will suffer greatly should they allow his contract to lapse. Sometimes life is hard, math class is SUPPOSED to be difficult. If the reason he is being let go is because he teaches with integrity and doesn't give away grades, well, that speaks very poorly of the school that I graduated from way back in 1987.

Clint Luscombe was one of the best teachers & coaches I ever had. When it came time for a decision on where to send my kids to school, we chose DMCS. One of the deciding factors was that Mr. Luscombe was still teaching there & teachers like him would be guiding my children. This man sets a Godly example for students, teachers, faculty and the families that’s are a part of the DMCS community. He is a true representative of living out your faith and following Jesus. Clint Luscombe deserves to have his contract renewed by the school board and allowed the opportunity to continue walking the path that God has chosen for him in leading kids in & out of the classroom. Please allow him to do so until he chooses to retire.

I'd like to echo the concern voiced by others, namely that recent decisions by administration have been questionable and not necessarily in the best interests of our students. Several staff members have been released (or left on their own with strong encouragement) in recent years despite the community pleading for them to stay because of the experience, care, and wisdom they bring to our school.
The person most immediately responsible for this decision would be the high school principal, and she needs to come forward and honestly deal with this situation. When you have a man who has taught here for 35 years, who is suddenly being released, the community is owed more of an explanation than his contract not being renewed. Although to be fair, we haven't even gotten that much of an explanation yet as no announcement has come out stating that Mr. Luscombe will not be returning.
Not only does this shake the confidence of students and parents, but what must it do to the morale of our other teachers, as they wonder if they may be next out the door. If we want our students to be the best and brightest, we need to keep the wonderful, experienced teachers that have poured so many years into our school and our children. This whole situation is disrespectful to Mr. Luscombe and to all who will miss him if this action is carried out. Extremely disappointing.
Before we worry more about grand new facilities or increasing our enrollment, let's take care of the teachers who put in the work, day after day and year after year, of educating our next generation.

I loathed math. Still don't love it to this day, because it was never a subject that came naturally to me. I'll admit, there's times I can't figure out the simplest of equations, but Luscombe made a subject that was so challenging for me, understandable. Not only did he explain things in a way that made sense, he made class FUN. I actually looked forward to going to a class whose subject I hated.
Luscombe has served DMC for so many years that, to this day, when you ask my father who his favorite teacher was, he will always say, "Mr. Luscombe!"
After all these years, this man has made such an impact on our lives through his education, that we QUOTE HIM in our every day conversation.
WE NEED MORE EDUCATORS LIKE LUSCOMBE, NOT LESS.

As a member of the DMCS community, I am extremely concerned about this decision.
Lately, the administrative decisions of DMCS have been increasingly questionable. While technology initiatives, new and modern facilities, and other “school improvements” are fine in themselves, they still need to be handled cautiously. Is it truly wise to build up new stadiums and facilities and technologies, yet release highly regarded, Godly staff members? What does that say about a school that is a representation of Christ?
The leaders at DMC have continuously stated that the rest of the world is watching us. Those words could not be any truer. But do these same leaders remember those words as they make decisions? I hope and pray that they do. While possibly not intended, the combination of these decisions do not paint our school in the most positive light. These decisions do not display the Christ-like values that we are commanded to demonstrate.
As the school is getting bigger and brighter, we need the high-standard instructors more than ever. While there is nothing wrong with young, new, inexperienced teachers, we must still be careful that they do not make up the majority of our instructors. In this time, we need strong, firm men and women who push our students to the highest level. Mr. Luscombe is one of those people. His release from DMC could symbolize a downward spiral for the morals and values of this school.

The time spent as Mr. Luscombe’s student has helped my daughter grow and develop. His impact on her education and the community is extraordinarily valuable. We should be mindful and cautious of the implications of terminating the relationship with any member of our community, especially one so highly regarded. We came to DMCS with the anticipation and expectation that situations like this would be handled in the highest Christian manner with the utmost integrity prescribing to biblical precepts, not in the way we see the “world” handle it. As Christians it is important that we encourage and support one another. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since He who promised is faithful. And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching. Not sure why a teacher who is dedicated to his students and who clearly is an upstanding man of God would be let go. It doesn’t make sense that a teacher who clearly is teaching, set an example and mentoring children in Christ that they would even be concidered for a release of duty????

I always struggled in luscombes class when I was in high school but that never changed the fact that he would go out of his way to help me improve in the class. Luscombe always taught me how to be a Godly man and he never failed to put a smile on someone’s face throughout the day.

As a newer family to DMCS we don’t have a long history with Clint Luscombe. However, this year in his Algebra II class has been impactful both academically and spiritually. Mr. Luscombe has helped our daughter grow in knowledge, understanding, and as child of God. In meeting with him it is evident that he greatly values each individual student and his own contribution to their development. It is deeply concerning that the leadership of DMCS not only undervalues this kind of contribution, but chooses to discard such a quality leader.
For those involved in this decision it is the hope of many that you prayerfully reconsider this action not for Mr. Luscombe’s benefit, but for the students past, present, and future he serves and for our community as a whole.
For Mr. Luscombe, please know that you are a beloved member of the DMCS community. Your contribution to our students’ education, well being, & development is so greatly appreciated. You are uplifted in our prayers and we stand with you now and in whatever the future brings. May glory be to God through this time.
