Mr. Luscombe is one of the main reasons I’m pursuing a career based on math. I enjoyed his class immensely and learned more than I have in most of my university math courses. He makes it such a priority that every student truly understands the material, and his no-nonsense manner of teaching made it the students priority to learn as well. I had a relationship with Mr. Luscombe that allowed me to grow as a student and as a person and denying other students that opportunity would be a mistake.

Some of my best high school memories were solving problems at the “southerners” board and hearing Me. luscombe answer the phone “yes, Mr. president.” He is an excellent teacher and mentor to students.

Mr. Luscombe is by far one of the best teachers DMC has ever had. He is a great teacher and shouldn’t be let go after 30 years of teaching

Not renewing Luscombe’s contract would be a major mistake. I am very concerned about DMC’s recent track record of forcing long-tenured teachers out of their jobs. These teachers have given years of their lives serving students and have amassed a massive amount of experience in Biblical, Christ-centered instruction.

I didn’t believe this was real when I first saw it because I thought there was no way DMCS would even think of letting Mr. Luscombe go. He is one of the top teachers I had in high school, and the knowledge I gained from his classes has given me a strong foundation for my math classes in college. In addition to the teaching, Mr Luscombe is a great man of God who genuinely cares about his students and wants to be involved with them. Letting him go would be one of the worst mistakes DMCS could make. I urge administration to reconsider this.

Hate to see this happen again. Tough and challenging teachers are of great value. DMC already lost a great teacher and what would’ve been a fantastic football coach in Radcliffe a few years back. Luscombe is the same case, he has helped many students over 30 plus years teaching a tough subject as well as serving as a coach for the baseball team. It would be a shame to watch him leave.

Mr. Luscombe is by far one of the most influential teachers that I had throughout my secondary schooling and it would be a grave mistake for DMC to let him go. He is the kind of teacher that can get ANY student excited to learn math and willing to do their best by making his class interesting and enjoyable. Luscombe has always shared life stories as well as mini sermons in his classes that gives students more knowledge than just numbers and formulas. His dedication to this school for over 30 years is not something that administrators should take lightly, and if you take opinions from actual students and parents into consideration, you will see that keeping Mr. Luscombe is the right decision.

Mr. Luscombe is an exemplary teacher that DMC is so blessed to have. He genuinely cares about each and every student and is an excellent teacher in every regard. I would be sincerely disappointed if DMC chose to let go of a teacher who has dedicated so many years to the school. Luscombe is loved by so many!

Keep him at DMC. They already made the mistake of letting Mr. Radcliffe go, don’t make the same mistake again.

I get it ... parents are paying a lot of $$ for their kids to attend DMCS and they expect great teachers. But that doesn't necessarily translate into the teachers making much money. Public school teachers are paid quite a bit more than DMCS teachers, plus with their union benefits they will be paid comfortably for the rest of their lives in retirement. Those lifetime benefits don't apply to our teachers. Our teachers are making a substantial financial sacrifice to work at DMCS and impact the lives our our kids, so when we find great teachers like Mr Luscombe we should do everything we can to keep them and show them our appreciation rather than constantly threatening them with these short term employment contracts.
Do our administrators have no sense of loyalty for someone who has committed 30 years of their lives to this school (the school the administrators have put in just a handful of years at)? What's an older teacher to do when they get let go like this?

Why is this even a thing? Luscombe is one of the best teachers at DMC. He has played a huge role in the development of students, and this shouldn’t be happening.

Luscombe is the best. He has invested in DMC long enough to have taught both of my parents and me. he cares deeply for every student and would do anything for us. Love and care are the most important qualities in any teacher and that is exactly who luscombe is. I can not count the amazing, funny, memories I left highschool with that included luscombe.

This is outrageous. This man has put everything into this school, and his teaching is still incredible. He prepares you excellently for the demands of higher education and he always was available for me to talk to. Him, Dean Delzell, and Don Caves are three of the most influential men in my life. I would be appalled if his contract is not offered again.
