Keep L@CHE (Latin@ Center for Higher Education ) And Cesar Rangel at Highline College!

There has been an institutional reorganization at Highline College. Due to this Cesar Rangel is no longer be a part of Highline college. In other words, L@ CHE and all other high school mentor groups, support groups and the Latino summit will not be ran by Cesar anymore. This is very upsetting to the Latin@ community; we want our voices to be heard. Cesar Rangel has been a mentor to many students over time. He has impacted many in positive ways. Cesar Rangel is dedicated to his students, all he wants for his students is to succeed. He is one of the few people that still pushes for the Latinos to stay on the path of education. Without Cesar’s support the retention of Latin@s that stay on the path of education in our community will decrees. We need to take action, the biggest reason why we struggle with staying on the path of education is because we lack knowledge and support! Cesar has given that to many students and he should be able to continue that! He is our voice at HC, believes in every one of us, and brings out the best in all of the students!

I've taught at Highline Community College. I've seen the need from the community and the paucity of the college's response. Keep Mr. Rangel in the college. Continue the outreach and mentorship that is so invaluable. Build, don't tear down. Thank you.
Cesar and L@CHE have been helping me since I was a junior in high school. Having to start college without someone that connects to me seems terrifying. Keep Cesar!
Cesar has been a huge part of our Latino groups at Pacific middle school. His leadership and guidance has made a great impact at our school and in our community. It would be a shame for Cesar to not continue his amazing work at Hcc and with the countless young students his message has reached.
My two years at Highline were most memorable because of Cesar and L@ Che. Cesar's unconditional support has had a great impact on me. He is a great advisor and understands the young latino community. Latinos need mentors and a place to go to like L@ Che!
Cesar has done so much for Highline, for the Latino community, and for Kentwood High School. He has sponsored and fostered KW's Latinos United Club for several years, and has always been there to advise and move it forward. He is an invaluable asset to Highline and the Latino community.
First they get rid of Michael Tuncap at Green River, and now Cesar and his programs. Outrageous. Please keep this vital member of the Highline College campus and do not continue to erase Black and Brown students from higher education!
Targeted mentorship programs are vital to recruiting groups from low socio-economic means to higher education. I certainly benefited from this model when I made the decision to pursue master's degree. This decision by Highline College is ironic given the demographic in the area. Sometime things just don't make sense.

Cesar's leadership was instrumental in casting a vision for secondary education for Latin@ students. The student group he led was inspiring, engaging, and relevant for the students! Please keep L@che and Cesar Rangel at Highline College. It is a vital bridge from local high schools to college. Thank you.
