Keep Larry as Crossing Guard at Jefferson Elementary

Larry truly cares about the families of this community and is a citizen going above and beyond to make a difference.

Please keep him as a crossing guard he has been my crossing guard ever since I was a little kid. I always feel really safe around him. Even worse around my school at Clinton Rose at middle school but now he's not there we always wave to him but now we can't please put him back at Jefferson.

My granddaughter attends Jefferson and I take her to school a few days every week. Larry gives us a sense of security and is part of Jefferson. Please bring him back!

My little cousins, Brandon and Dominic Garcia, attend Jefferson Elementary School. They know Larry the Crossing Guard and feel safe with him there. It is upsetting to learn that he has been removed from his post and this upsets me because it disrupts the routine and safety of my family. I live in North Carolina and am voicing my displeasure at the actions of the Chief of Police for taking Larry away from the kids, and I don't even live in your state! My Cousins were very upset and their mom told me what happened suddenly and it is appalling that a Chief of Police would do that to the children of the community he has sworn to serve and protect. Larry has been a wonderful crossing guard for many years, and his service is much needed on Ridge Road!

Larry needs to stay at Jefferson. My kids love him. He's always there for the kids and very nice. He comes to know each of the kids names and is very nice to all the parents.

I am a babysitter for a 1st grader at Jefferson. I drop him off at school almost every morning. Larry is one of the best crossing guards I have ever witnessed doing his job. I also believe that DPD needs an undercover police officer to sit in a driveway on ridge road close to where the children are dropped off. They would make quota in the first two days of sitting there!! Larry slows the crazy drivers down and ALWAYS makes sure that cars are stopped fully before letting the children cross. What an amazing influence!

Some of my fondest memories growing up, are of our crossing guard Mr. Baird. It's more important than some of us realize. Having children who crave routine, I get how loosing him can greatly effect a child. Especially for children who lack stability at home. Please reconsider keeping him there.

My daughter had a really hard time adjusting to kindergarten. Larry was the first person she felt comfortable with! Even when she was crying or didn't respond, he always made it a point to say hi to her and make her smile. She was in tears when she found out he was leaving. Broke my heart.

Please keep Larry at Jefferson. He is person they know and trust to keep them safe as they cross a busy street.

Give them there crossing guard back...

Everyone loves Larry! He is the best cross guard! His love and compassion makes a difference in our community!!

my boys and i have grown to love Larry he is a very kind hearted man. he loves his job and he loves all the kids he safely crosses everyday. he shows up early and even stays late so that the kids who stay and play after school can cross safely. he takes his job very seriously .it just broke my my heart when we found out he would no longer be with us to safely cross the road

I think its so important to keep the same crossing guards at their posts when possible for safety reasons. They get to know the kids and parents faces. They would be the first to see and recognize trouble once the kids leave the school. Although my child does not attend this school, I can tell from the concerned parents that this crossing guard definitely knew the kids and kept a good eye on them.

My son, when its warmer out amd he can walk further, enjoys greeting Larry.
