Keep Lake Country Grade 7 Students At Their Elementary Schools!

As you might know, School District 23 has finalized its recommendations for its Long Term Facility Plan.  For Lake Country, the District is proposing to move the Grade 7's out of the elementary schools and into a 'school within a school' at George Elliot Secondary School by next year, September 2013.  This movement is meant to be a temporary solution until a middle school is built in Lake Country.  BUT funding for building the middle school could take up to 10 years!  Having Grade 7's at George Elliot would mean having 11, 12 & 13 year olds at George Elliot with kids up to 18 years old!

We are asking the school district to leave the current grade configuration the same (k-7, 8-12) until a new middle school is built and ready for our children.

You can find out more about the Long Term Facility Plan at www.sd23.bc.ca or by contacting Deb Butler, School District 23 School Trustee for this zonal area at Deb.Butler@sd23.bc.ca.

"We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our school district leaders to act now and listen to our objections.  We want to keep our Grade 7 students at their elementary schools until a new Middle School has been built for the children of Lake Country."

The 3 PAC's are asking our parents and local residents attend the School District's public consultation meeting - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25TH 2012, 6:30 PM @ GEORGE ELLIOT SECONDARY SCHOOL.  We need to fill the gym!
