Athletics has already suffered so much at KO. Let's keep some of the traditions we have!

Time honored traditions are one of the things that sets KO apart from other schools. They are a big part of the reason that we drove my daughter 45 minutes to and from school each day so she could be a part of those traditions. And to do this without with consulting others? Very disappointed in whoever made that decision. part of what

I and both my brothers were wrestling team captains. Is there no tradition safe?

Tradition is important. The boards never should have been removed without first having a conversation with students & alums. Please reconsider. I may think twice about contributing to the annual fund - not that I give much but every $$ counts!

When we were back at our reunion in June we went looking for the hockey captain boards and they are not on any wall.

No I was not a captain but this is not the way to make decisions in a school. It is yet another way to disconnect the alumni by taking them away. Reconsider

Although an electronic version of the team and rosters is excellent- there still needs to be a physical representation of the captains and the school's history. Having physical captain's boards as a daily reminder serves as a sense of pride and inspiration, which could never be replaced by any form of electronics. While interactive electronics are "cool" and progressive, they are not ideal for representing captaincy and leadership. Technology can never replace the authentic and historic plaques.

And we will.

They had to come down temporarily as we improved athletic spaces. It was done thoughtfully, deliberately and with the appropriate care and concern!

Dennis Bisgaard, Head of School at KO here. Captains boards are NOT going to disappear! We are in the process of identifying new, best appropriate spaces for them as we have and continue to renovate, enhance and improve athletic areas and spaces - a task force to address best and most appropriate placement is being formed. It is accurate that during renovation and enhancement of certain areas, some boards had to TEMPORARILY be taken down. Please rest assured that the important traditional boards and captains will continue to be recognized in the past AND in the future. In the future, likely in a more interactive electronic format with information readily availble about all team members, in addition to the captains, but plans are still being finalized. There is NO reason to worry or getting upset unnecessarily. Best wishes, Dennis Bisgaard
