The board officially confirmed that full day kindergarten is staying at Pineland. I am truly stunned by the outcome and so thankful that you all felt this was worth your time. Please keep an eye on things as we move forward.

Final supporters
We are asking for the following to:
1) Ensure our 3, 4 and 5 year olds in our community have a community school to attend.
2) Keep our communities safe and eliminate the increased noise, congestion and pollution the decision will create (by way of more buses and parents now having to drive their children to school)
3) Protect our property values which may be affected by the lack of a community school.
4) Hold the HDSB accountable for it's non-compliance with the Ontario Education Act.

I am shocked and dissapointed to hear that my young grandchildren will have to be bussed to their local school. doesn't the board have an obligation to educate children in their own neighbourhood where ever possible? Being kicked out because of a specialty programme ( FI) doesn't seem right although even I would like to see them in French Immersion in the future.
When Breckon school was closed these families were assured they would have a place at Pineland!
Why should a community loose a school to accommodate bussed in children. The children from West of Appleby now will have no walk to school option for kindie kids..... a very sad reflection of trying to create community spirit which is being espoused by Jim Diers who came to speak to Burlington City Council. Schoolboards and City Councils should be supporting the same message.
Please do what is best for ALL community children, and not the select few. Families consider the proximity to the neighbourhood school when they purchase their homes, and removing the ability for us to send our children to the school that is closest to us is wrong.
The inclusion of FI studies should not mean the exclusion of students from their neighbourhood schools
