The district finally agreed to move the polling site away from Clara B. Worth and honestly I am just sitting here staring at the email in total disbelief right now. It feels like such a huge weight is off my chest because our kids are actually going to be separate …

We, the undersigned parents/guardians of children attending Clara B. Worth Elementary School object to use of our school as a voting poll during class hours. We believe that such a practice poses a danger and threat to the safety of our children and, given the history of tragic events, we want the practice of using our schools as voting poll places to be discontinued immediately. Furthermore, we believe it is impossible to effectively monitor the movement of unregistered people in the building at all times, given the atmosphere of voting polls. We believe our children deserve the safety we strive to provide and expect while in our schools.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and the momentum is actually kind of overwhelming in a good way. It feels like people finally see why having strangers roaming the halls during school hours is just a recipe for disaster (and I really hope someone in charge is paying attention now).

Allowing unscreened individuals to enter any school compromises the safety of our children. The turbulent culture of today's society cannot be ignored, and special measures must be taken to ensure our childrens' safety. It is our responsibility and duty as parents to do so.

After the Newtown tragedy this should not be permitted. Students safety should be put first. Cancel classes if this is the only polling place.

Our children's safety should be an absolute priority in EVERY school. Perhaps the local library, Elks club or Fire station could provide a more appropriate voting facility. I strongly urge those who decide where voting takes place, to move it to a new location.

Polling stations do not belong in schools while the school is in session. The fact that people are voting does not alter the rules of safety that have been painstakingly put in place as a result of modern tragedies. There are other locations and times available for voting. " Common sense"

Anyone with any intentions could have walked in yesterday... If parents cannot even come and go into the school without signing in at the office, why in the world would strangers be allowed to be in the same building just steps away from our children!?

My daughter shouldn't have to come home and question why her day at school was different because of election taking place. School is for our children not for random people they don't know voting.

Please remove elections from the school or closed the school that day. Putting kids at risk with many people walking in and out.

This is crazy, there should not be people in the schools while the children are there!
