Keep Kids Healthy and In School

I am always hesitant to sign petitions, but in this case I feel compelled to given what I perceive to be Dr Taylor’s tepid response to the new risks of the Delta variant. Instead of plexiglass or other physical, non effective partitions, I urge the districts to buy tents and blankets so students can sit outside. I also urge the district to partner with an agency that can provide weekly testing services to the school community. Thanks

These are common sense ideas that need to be carefully considered. If outdoor eating is impossible at some schools, please consider the Japanese method and feed the students in their classrooms/home rooms. It may be far safer than cafeteria style which broadens unmasked interactions between classes and grades.

We need a variety of measures to mitigate risk. Testing and use of outdoor space should absolutely be part of the plan.

Not doing any testing at all in the schools is irresponsible. Doing some testing of some kind, whether pooled or not, is better than nothing.

please stop punishing the kids. mandate vaccines for those who are able.

Feels like a good preemptive strike against variant. Please consider these measures seriously. Thank you for your work.

Let’s keep our kids safe this school year

I very much appreciate the requirements for masks in schools. I do wish that further mitigation measures be taken such as outdoor lunch and snacks. There is no way to space enough in the school, so spacing them outside seems very reasonable and should be considered. Similarly, like so many other districts in the area and around the country, regular surveillance testing plays a huge role in limiting transmission and should be strongly considered and implemented.

I’m on board with the caveat that if the school district tests children, that the tests be comfortable for the kids and at intervals that make sense, maybe once a week.

I feel strongly that the distract needs a plan to keep our children safe. Having them eat outside or dividing the kids who will be the class room (Half at recess / Half eating spaced in their room). I think the idea of everyone eating at classroom or in a cafeteria is asking for huge exposures and outbreaks and secondary quarentines and forced distanced learning. I feel a solid plan needs to be in place to ensure the safety of our children.

Please do the right thing , protect the children and staff from this vicious variant . If they get it , they’ll bring it home and to any place or people they visit . It will take more than a village to stop the spread , but this is a great start .

Please implement regular surveillance testing - preferably on site. We also need open windows and portable hepa filters in each room.

Our family has not eaten indoors at restaurants because our kids can’t be vaccinated yet. We really need to have kids eat school lunch outside. If they can go out for recess then they can eat outdoors as well. Thank you!

Act early and avoid or mitigate disruptive changes to address the coming increase in community risk.
