Keep Joanne Kimball-Sherman at Roosevelt Elementary School

Joanne regularly goes above and beyond for her students. She brings enthusiasm, humor, and solid pedagogy to her classes and she really connects with every child. I was so thankful that she really tuned in to my daughter , and she absolutely blossomed (socially and academically) under Joanne's guidance. As a teacher myself, I know that Joanne's many talents and gifts are rare. I hope she will be allowed to stay and retire at the school where she has given so much.

Please let her stay!

Mrs. Kimball-Sherman should not be removed from the Roosevelt School. She is an amazing teacher and a huge part of the Roosevelt community. My children, as I'm sure many do, feel more secure at school seeing teachers they've had the years prior. In just the few years we have been at the Roosevelt this will be the 3rd teacher that they will have lost that important connection with. Please reconsider and understand what a loss and a disappointment this will be to the children at the Roosevelt.

I just can't see the benefit of removing such a beloved teacher from her school this late in her career. Both of my children had Mrs. kimball-Sherman and still love her. With all of the instability in our schools recently, this just makes no sense.

Mrs. Kimball-Sherman is one of the best teachers my children have had. This is a BIG LOSS for the Roosevelt!

Joanne has been instrumental to my son's growth, his love of math and all things funny. A teacher for energetic kids who is not otherwise mainstream, by challenging them to explore their innate curiosity and intellectual competitiveness. In the midst of fluctuating educational values and leadership, a good teacher who is also a leader is a beacon of light for our kids. It would truly be a loss for the Roosevelt community if Mrs. K-S is not here to shepherd the next waves of 1st graders.

Playing musical principals at the Roosevelt? Fine: my kids went through three of them. It's the really good teachers who hold it together, and Joanne is at the top of a Very Short List. Sad news indeed if those making these ridiculous decisions can't see that.

Three of my four children have had Mrs. Kimball-Sherman and my last child will be in first grade next year. Both he and I have been looking forward to 1st grade just so he could have the incredible experience that my other children had with Joanne. She is one of their favorite teachers as well as one of my favorite teachers because she is willing to take the time to challenge the children by level and create coursework and activities catered toward each child's level vs a one stop approach. She engages with the children and their entire family (parents and siblings) because she believes we are all one big school community. She is one of the most active teachers we have at the Roosevelt and is someone you can count on seeing at the various school events and activities. She has given countless hours of her own time to this Roosevelt community and has provided so many of our children with a solid foundation on which to start their school years. We can not, as a city, treat our gems this way. It is a complete disgrace. This wrong needs to be corrected as it is a tremendous disservice to Joanne as well as all of the current and future Roosevelt families. We have shown alot of patience with leadership up to this point (3 principals in 6 years, seriously) but we have to draw the line with this travesty and request to be treated fairly. Roosevelt families need Joanne to stay where she belongs - at the Roosevelt School!

I thought this was a joke when I saw it. She is one of the most amazing and infectious teachers I have met. What a shame when the greater good of the children is not considered. Losing Her would be a loss to students and the school.

Please consider to came to the School Committee meeting on Tuesday, May 13 in City Hall at 7 PM in the Aldermanic Chambers, Melrose City Hall. Bring your kids to speak out, bring written letters of why Mrs. Kimball Sherman must stay at the Roosevelt, even if you do not have a chance to speak the letters can be given to them. I hope to see many of you there!

It breaks my heart to say that a school that Mrs Joanne Kimball Sherman has dedicated the past 17 years is having her pack up all her things to move across town to another school for her last 3 years before retiring. Many are outraged but honestly, after seeing her stay late at school for most of my childhood as a volunteer and committee member and chair for so many committees and programs, I feel betrayed for her. It speaks alot of her commitment to the school and also to the lack of commitment of those who are running Roosevelt Elementary (Melrose, MA) to their teachers.

Why would this administration do this to my daughter? She has given her all to the Roosevelt School and the community. I have seen her over the last 18 years serving on committees, attending PTO functions, being invited and attending children's birthday parties, communions, Christmas parties, get togethers, and so many more. The Melrose community and the Roosevelt School have benefited so much from my daughter as much as she has benefited from such wonderful families. i love to hear all her stories. Joanne has only three years until she retires. She began teaching at the Roosevelt and should be able to retire from there. These are the people who will celebrate her and who she will want to celebrate with. It breaks my heart to know she will not be able to do this if the current administration is allowed to continue with this vindictive witch hunt!This action will only cause irreparable harm to my daughter and the children she has already become aquainted with and they her for next year's class.I know for a fact that many of the upcoming kindergarteners are siblings from families she has already had so they have a connection already! She has told me several kindergarteners are hugging her every day and talking already about next year. Stop this nonsense foolishness and let my daughter remain where she WANTS and quite frankly DESERVES to remain! Thank you!

Mrs. Kimball-Sherman is one of the greatest teachers I know. She not only teaches children, but she teaches teachers! She shares her love and knowledge with the teachers around her and inspires them to be better. I am a better teacher for having spent three years next door to Mrs. Kimball-Sherman. Please keep her at Roosevelt!!!

As a parent herself, in particular a Mother of boys, Joanne Kimball Sherman was instrumental in assisting my husband and me in managing to our son's educational and social needs. We leaned on her expertise and benefited greatly from her genuine love and care. She significantly impacted our family's experience for the better.

Joanne has been instrumental in helping our son grow to love school this year. In the two short years we have been part of the Roosevelt community, it has undergone enough transition. Not only is Joanne a constant, she is an outstanding teacher. This decision makes no sense for the school and its children.

Mrs. Kimball Sherman was an instrumental help to me while I was serving as PTO co-president at the Roosevelt School. She is devoted to the students, parents and staff of the school.

Joanne is a strong support system for our children, and our school. She is devoted to our children and our communty. We needed guidance with our daughter last year & Joanne gave that to us when no one else would. Our school/children need her here with us! DON'T LET HER GO!!!!
