Despite Jay Leno's overwhelming popularity(No. 1 in the ratings), NBC is forcing him to retire once again in hopes to, and I quote, "attract younger viewers." Replacing Jay is 38-year-old Jimmy Fallon, who has barely gotten his feet wet as a late night talk show host, not to mention is just not funny. This whole thing reminds me of what happened when NBC offered to give Conan O'Brien the Tonight Show in the past, and we all know what happened then. That stint lasted 7 months. Jay had a brief stint in the prime time slot, which got cancelled four months into it. Talks with NBC proceeded, and the execs offered Jay a half-hour slot while moving the Tonight Show to 12:05/11:05 CT. Conan said "no" to the offer, thereby giving Jay the coveted Tonight Show spot back. The point being, does NBC really need to chase their tails here? The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" rings true. My hope is to get 1,000,000 signatures and get this petition to the NBC execs. Hopefully they'll have a change of heart.
