I went England and interchanged with the sister school of my school. I saw the pupils learning Japanese very hard. And they are going to come to Japan. The exchange is very good. I want them to keep learning Japanese!

This is something quite important to me, silly as it sounds I've really enjoyed studying Japanese to A-level and it would be awful for others not to be able to have that experience just because "it's not popular enough" or whatever excuse. A lot of students find themselves disillusioned with limited options on offer, so it's very important to give them a wider choice!

I think it is important that young people should continue to have the opportunity to take A'Level Japanese. My Year 7 daughter chose Japanese as her language option and is very enthusiastic about it. If she wants to continue her study of Japanese after taking GCSE, she should have that option.

My son has chosen Japanese in year 7 to study and loves studying this language . I encouraged him to take this over Spanish as I felt that it would eventually offer him more life chances. At the moment I can envisage him taking A level and a degree such is his enthusiasm for the subject . I am appalled that the decision to scrap this language is because it is a minorty subject; these are the very qualifications that should be encouraged , celebrated and continued. This is not an easy option ( from what I have seen so far in year 7 ) and is a worthy A level that in today's modern global society needs to remain

This seems such a narrow minded step to take, having people who are able to communicate and understand other cultures surely should be part of growing a thriving economy.

Language is about culture, and an appreciation of other cultures is vital in a global economy. Japan is an important trade partner for the UK.

I never had the opportunity to do this, at my school it was only French, Spanish and German. If Japanese had been an option for me I would have definitely taken it! I definitely want this opportunity to remain available to kids now.
