Japan is the third largest economy in the world. Practically every middle class British family is driving a Nissan Qashqai right now, and their kids play with Japanese toys and games. Sino-Japanese relations are some of the most crucial to global stability now. Are we really serious about this? This insular attitude among the British has to stop or our significance in the world will slip even further.

Lose opportunities to learn about other cultures and languages will lead to narrow mindedness for the younger generation in UK. Japanese language is so unique and its culture is intriguing to many British people. It opens up new ideas, often positive to the British mind. But if their opportunity to learn Japanese is lost, its interest will be lost at the same time.
Younger generations should be allowed to explore different languages, learn about their cultures and expand their mind.

We have had this fear for the last few years and it is now happening. Hope this petition will save the provisions of Japanese A level and GCSE once for all.

Language skills are important! There's already a lack of competent foreign language users in the UK and getting rid of the Japanese A level will only exacerbate this issue.
My school has a sister school in Britain. So I went to Britain. Learning attitude of sister school's students are really great. I was impressed with that. I want them to keep learning Japanese. Please leave Japanese exam

I never had the chance to study Japanese for GCSE or A-Level, but now I'm studying it at University and it's a great language to learn! Please keep Japanese on the syllabus! ありがとうございます！

My son struggles with English but excels in Japanese. he is studying it at GCSE level in year 10. There is a call for this language especially in the electronics industry. His school has an annual exchange with students from Japan. I can't believe that this subject will be dropped from A level.
