The suits at Sky finally backed down and confirmed that Irish Horse Racing will remain free to watch. They tried to squeeze us for more cash but we forced them to drop the paywall. Stay ready because we will be watching them like a hawk if they try this garbage …

The suits at At The Races are finally starting to sweat as this momentum grows. They thought they could kill our access without a fight but they clearly underestimated us.

it will be a big loss to irish racing and any new format will not be as good as atrs coverage and charging is adding insult to injury atrs gary o brien kevin blake kevin ryan contribution to the irish racing tracks is invaluable irish racing will not get the coverage it deserves and i for one will not pay for second rate coverage on ruk

Absolutely love the coverage on ATR,the team do a brilliant job.If it goes to RUK,how will the manage to fit all the Irish races in with the British races when meetings clash.?Terrible idea.

ATR provide brilliant, entertaining coverage of Irish racing and there website allows you to access all the horses previous runs on ATR free of charge. This move would not be good for Irish racing and all racing fans.

I think this is a bad move for both Irish racing and UK racing generally. Making it all pay to view will reduce exposure and betting turnover.

Appalling decision made by the custodians of the sport who should be promoting it to the widest audience possible, have just slashed the viewers in one foul, greedy swoop. ATR presenters attract so much interest to Irish racing that RUK could never match

I have followed Irish racing for many years and I fully believe that it is the best racing in the world. I cannot afford to pay dubscriptions to watch Irish racing on Racing UK and feel bereft because of this.

This is a very cynical move on the part of Irish racing. For the last decade racing in general has become an international sport (especially flat racing) and the UK/Irish racing have become almost one (especially jump racing) with trainers and pundits, viewers and punters basically looking at the season as a joint meta. With this move Irish racing will become to the people of the UK just one more foreign racing nation no different to France or South Africa. As for the people of Ireland their racing will go behind an EXPENSIVE paywall which will only be available to them if they pay for the UK product as well. I am an RUK subscriber and an ATR subscriber and I am still dead set against this move. ATR have since their inception been dedicated to a free to view policy for our sport and have provided an EXCELLANT platform for Irish racing this is short sighted on the opart of the racecourses and a terrible shame for the sports supporters not that we play ANY role in ANY decision making process. The punter and viewer is always the bottom of everybody and anybodies list of priorities. The entire meta of horse racing has changed. Most people do not go to the bookies anymore (they are for the machine players) they watch from home and bet online and if you take away Irish racing pictures and place them behind a £25 a month paywall (and who is to say that with the new content that price wont increase?) then that will just mean betting and viewing figures will just plummet. Such a shame as horse racing and bloodstock is a great advertisement for Ireland. Coolmore on the flat, Rich Ricci and Gigginstown over the jumps. Irish racing and Irish bred racehorses are arguably number one in the world and the last thing you should want to do is hide this product, this IRISH PRODUCT under a bushell. Yee Haa
