Dear Neighborhood Resident-

This petition was created in an effort to appeal to Wake County Schools to keep Holly Springs kids at Holly Springs High School. Currently, many of our students, specifically those in the Bridgewater and Arbor Creek developments, are slated to go to a new high school in Apex, even those kids who already started school locally.

We would like to appeal to the board that our 9th graders continue to go to HSHS. It's unfair to make students start at one school and remove them from their activities, friends, and other connections partway through the high school experience.

We would like all students on this side of Sunset Lake Road to go to HSHS thereby creating a reasonable divider line of which students will go and which will remain at HSHS. We do understand that the board needs to fill a new school.

We moved to these homes with the specific knowledge and intention of having our kids go to an excellent nearby school. We would have purchased in Apex had we wanted to become a part of that community. Our kids will not have the same connections and familiarity as those who already live there and the added drive time was not what we envisioned when buying in Holly Springs. Many of us moved here years ago, giving our children time to make lifelong friendships, in an effort to have a wonderful high school experience to develop those friendships further. Now this will not take place.

Additionally, under the latest plan, all grandfathering rights have been taken away from us. We purchased in Holly Springs and now have no voice in our child's education.

If you will, please sign this petition which will be added to the Envision Wake site as well as being presented at the meeting on October 14th.

Thank you for your time and interest in all of our children!
