Keep Hog Haven at Fairlington

Back when I lived in Fairlington in the 1970s, a local market did not exist. But if the current market managers aren't responding to the needs of the community, perhaps it's time to have a different organization provide a local market.

This is really awful—not just the fact of making an autocratic decision and not letting anyone know WHY. Hog Heaven is a beloved part of the ritual of our farmers market. Kids, families, everyone loves it—why won’t you bring it back for the People?

It’s my sincere hope that both parties can agree there was miscommunication and misunderstanding, and can now take a deep breath and move forward graciously. Perhaps there could be a written agreement that articulates the expectations for Hog Haven and gives them this “last chance”. It certainly seems in the best interest of the market, and the community. I respect that Hog Haven has continued to run without issue at similar markets, and that seems a great indicator we can all recalibrate and agree to have them back.

This is why I come to the market.

Hog Haven was the reason for coming. Reading the letter that was sent to them by the "Committee" seemed very un-Democratic. How can a few decide for the mass! Please reinstate them!

Bring me my sandwiches and pork products!!!!

The lack of transparency in this process is enough for me to boycott the market entirely. Start behaving like a farmers market and stop behaving like the gestapo

I beg you to reconsider your decision to evict Hog Haven from the Fairlington Market for what appears to be a relatively simple misunderstanding. Continuing our support for small local farmers, especially as they work to survive the pandemic, should be a primary goal for our market. Although the Committee apparently believes that the communications from the vendor to his customers during the pandemic violated some sort of standard, it's clear that this was not intentional (and, the vendor made immediate efforts to correct any problems of which he was made aware). In the meantime, the Fairlington community is left with many perplexing questions still unanswered about how and why this VERY unpopular decision was made. Count me among the many regular customers who will no longer be visiting the Fairlington Market as often as I instead pursue my favorite breakfast sandwich elsewhere.

Fairlington Farmers Market New World Order is the absolute joke in an already laughable woke neighborhood.

The neighborhood loves this popular vendor. Fewer people will come to the market without them and all the vendors will be impacted.
