Keep Food Trucks in Downtown Fuquay-Varina

I was told last night that there is a meeting with the city about food trucks due to a complaint from a local restaurant. I unfortunately cannot attend, however I wanted to share are article with you about building local economies. It speaks to how encouraging more economic spending at locally owned businesses creates more jobs than non locally-owned places. Effective local economies are developed from within the community through what the author calls pollinator businesses that facilitate local economic growth. If I was available I would have spoken to my belief that together local businesses can be more competitive and cultivate more economic growth in Fuquay by partnering together to make a broader food and event culture that the local community will associate with our community. In some important ways, the Mill is already acting as a partnership pollinator by encouraging patrons to order from the local resturants. Keep the food trucks coming!!!!

Fuquay needs more diversity. We have too many fast food joints, chain restaurants (that aren't very good). We need more gourmet options. When there are downtown events, the few food places there can not even handle the crowds. Food trucks can only help, and I personally love food trucks and would like to see more in the area!

Allow food trucks to come to historic downtown F-V for a variety of food choices. Love our local eateries, but need more variety.

I am a food truck vendor, I frequently served areas considered to not be part of the plan for future food truck operations. This is an outrage and the question is why the rewrite and why is Fuquay-Varina restrictioninf local businesses to operate. Especially when the town will be looking to host these events with food truck vendors. Fuquay-Varina already has bad blood between the industry. The food vendors brings new taste, lifts moral in the local area as well as economic development. Keep food trucks in and free to operate in all areas of the public.

In a free market and capitalistic society, this type of enterprise should not be restricted but encouraged and given room to flourish by the government. The consumer will, by their choices, eliminate the outdated or inferior products.

Which horrible permanently housed eating establishment is padding pockets for this? Not one restaurant in Fuquay is good enough for that. Keep the food trucks!

I think food trucks should be allowed to stay. They bring a variety to our small town.

Food trucks at The Mill and The Fainting Goat on the weekends are such an important part of our community. They help to generate profit for local businesses by bringing in more patrons. I've definitely noticed an increase in the amount of people I see out and about downtown Fuquay on the weekend. With the limited amount of restaurants to us I really enjoy the variety that is now available to our community. Competition helps to drive up the level of service and improve the food that a business provides. There are plenty of patrons to go around and if a restaurant is feeling threatened by the food trucks its time for them to look within and what can be improved internally. If food trucks are severely limited people will start going other places, taking their money with them to other communities. Fuquay Varina is just starting to be an up and coming community that finally has a selection of nightlife. My question to the board is why do you eant to take that away from your citizens?

I live by downtown Varina and have loved having all the varieties of food,beer, and new places to hang out locally. When food trucks started to arrive, it has brought in new vibes to the area. The food trucks also bring in their own followers from out of town that get to experience our wonderful town. Why are we shutting down new experiences to be a a hole in the wall experience. We are pushing ourselves back in time instead of extending ourselves into the future. My husband and I as well as our kids love to walk to all the festivals that are put on throughout the year, but why do we want to single out some of our new businesses. Include everyone along both downtowns. Please keep Fuquay-Varina.....a dash more above the rest of Wake county.

Banning food trucks would not only hurt families trying to run small businesses, but it would also turn people away from the town, to look for other options for food. Keeping food trucks in our town brings community and keeps Fuquay in Fuquay! Want to keep Fuquay "a dash more" than the rest? Keep the food trucks!!

Let's keep giving the people of Fuquay-Varina choices!!

Ridiculous... Food trucks are amazing and Fuquay has the perfect spot for rodeos right downtown in that huge gravel lot by Fainting Goat. Why restrict it??

Please allow the trucks, it gets people out of their homes, away from the dang TV and computer and out with the community.

This would be terrible for small businesses, which is what this small town is built on - you would hurt the food truck owners as well as the businesses they are bringing exposure to by making an appearance. Food trucks are good for employee morale in an office setting as well, which directly impacts production and quality of work.

Fuquay is already drastically limited in their offerings as a whole, and by further restricting the offerings will limit traffic at various businesses locally which directly reduces income through lack of sales and associated taxes.

Food trucks help to PROMOTE businesses not hurt them. I"m not sure why the town would want to ban something that brings money to the town.

Why would you ban something that brings money into the town? Keep the trucks!
