Fishermen were here long before the harbor-developers. They must be supported first and foremost, and their needs accommodated above all else. They provide a vital part of our economy. They risk their lives in this dangerous channel profession and deserve the upmost respect, attention and assistance at all levels and at all times!

This is not an accurate portrayal. The County and developer recognize the need to re-locate the commercial fishing operation, and there are plans to do so. The urchin off-loading dock will be re-located to the end of Curlew Way, paid for by the developer. This assurance has been shared with the commercial fishing industry. It is always important to take into consideration current land use when planning for future development. Simultaneously, it is the job of government and zoning to take into consideration, not just the bottom line of a few, but also the livelihood of the many, I stand by our fisherman, sport boat captains and all who are currently able to make a living out of the harbor. Please do not forget these families when granting land use rights.

I grew up sailing and fishing on Channel Islands harbor! It’s what made me who I am today! We will fight for what’s right! Let them fish, make memories and be happy !!!
