I recently attended a training class through UTA taught by Darrel Canada. After attending this class I felt like I had learned quite a bit and It renewed my focus on safety in the workplace. One thing I noticed at the beginning of the class was there were students that have traveled from far off states to attend the class. Their reasoning when I ask why they traveled so far was because classes with Darrel are so much different. The longer the class went on the more comfortable I became with industry standards and hazard recognition. We not only went through power points and videos but we reviewed past incident cases. We used the OSHA standards book to figure out what the companies were cited for and why. I immediately knew that I was going to sign up for another class. One more class turned into two and then I found myself researching to find the classes that Darrel was teaching through UTA. I drove from NW Oklahoma to Midland Texas and stayed in a Motel for four nights just to attend an OSHA G200 course through UTA simply because he was teaching the class. In total I have attended 5 classes through UTA over the last 5 months and all of them were with Darrel. After speaking to the other students I know that I am not the only one who feels this way about the classes that Darrel teaches. I started with one class and Darrel convinced me over time that I should shoot for my CSHO cert through UTA. I vowed to achieve this goal and also vowed that I was going to do it all with Darrel's classes. I was informed this morning that Darrel more than likely will no longer be instructing for UTA. Darrel is a very valuable asset to everyone in this district and we need to keep him local. I am asking for help from anyone who has benefited from Darrel's classes and experiences that he has shared with you during a training session, to speak up and sign this petition to keep Darrel teaching through UTA.

I honestly never thought this would gain so much traction when I first typed it out in a frustrated haze because it feels like just yesterday I was sitting in that motel room in Midland wondering if anyone else felt the same way about Darrel's teaching style. It is honestly wild to see so many of you popping up with similar stories and honestly the way this has snowballed is making me feel like we might actually have a real shot at keeping him here.

Darrel Canada has been the most knowledgeable instructor that I have had. He relates practical issues to the OSHA standards and shares stories of real events that are invaluable.
After completing my CSHO, Darrel was my favorite instructor. I looked to take other courses from him, but unfortunately they did not fit my schedule. I found myself comparing the other instructors to Darrel and was let down after each course. UTA will be making a huge mistake by letting Darrel go.
Darrel is an outstanding instructor with tons of great knowledge to share. His classes are taught so that all will understand weather it be a beginner or more experienced person. When I need to sign up for a course I look to see when he is teaching the course and sign up for it, even if it's months down the road or out of town, it is worth the wait and travel.
I attended a free class through UTA which Darrel taught. I was so impressed, I asked UTA to send Darrel as the instructor for all the classes we held at Northwest Technology Center this fall and spring. I am very disappointed that UTA has not negotiated a continuing contract with Darrel.
As a Emergency First Responder what l learned from Darrel has kept me safe in return has kept my crew safe. Darrel is my go to contact when I have a issue or question.
I have had the pleasure of attending several classes through UTA and I have to say that Darrel is by far the best instructor I have seen. I would attend any of his classes over anyone else.
I have known Darrell for about 8 years now. I have attended several of his training courses. He is an excellent instructor that is very knowledgeable about all subjects he teaches.

In the fall of 2015 I attended an OSHA 5810 course taught by Darrel Canada. The outcome of the course far exceeded my expectations. The main reason for the positive outcome was the first hand experience and practical knowledge of the trainer. This course was by far the most beneficial course I have taken at any training facility, from any instructor.
