Sign this petition if you would like a law brought in to great Britain to make our roads safer for cyclists. As a road cyclist I there is nothing like the open road but I'm also aware how dangerous it can be to cycle on our roads. Today's roads are full of potholes and drivers who are in one mad rush! Not all drivers but the majority of driversdo not give cyclists enough room when passing them. Some drivers literally drive in a straight line and give you no room whatsoever, and if you have to avoid a pothole you are going to have a collision with the car. What we need is an advert like the one "Think bike" for motorcyclists for cyclists showing the dangers that cyclists face whilst out on the road such as when they are cycling past traffic islands, pulling out of junctions etc.We need to change drivers attitudes towards cyclists. They need to realise how close they come to us and how they could literally kill us if they hit us. This is why I think the advert would be a great idea. I am glad to see stickers on the back of lorries and vans now warning cyclists not to undertake on the inside. This is a step in the right direction! If we could have a law broughtinwhere drivers must give a cyclistadequate clearance when passing and only pass when safe to do so it would make a cycle ride a more pleasant experience.
