The Forest Service just confirmed they will construct a new access route before touching the current road. I am relieved that my children and all of you will still be able to visit this mountain treasure. My deepest thanks for sticking with me to protect this water.

Crystal Lake is located at the top of Mt. Hough in Plumas County, between American and Indian Valleys.

The Forest Service is getting ready to obliterate and close the steep access road down to Crystal Lake because that section of road, directly above the lake, is eroding and dumping sediment into the lake.

We all love Crystal Lake and want to keep its waters clear. But the Forest Service is not offering to build a new road for public access before the old road is blocked off.

By signing this petition, you are simply asking the Forest Service to provide the public with an alternate route to the lake before they close the current route.

Keep Crystal Lake "crystal clear", and keep it open for the public to enjoy.

Seeing 250 people back this effort feels surreal because I remember when I was the only one worried about losing our path to the water. My family has spent summers at this lake for generations and I am grateful so many of you value this place just as much as we do.

I grew up fishing on these shores and the thought of losing access to my favorite place is heartbreaking. We need to reach two hundred and fifty signatures right now so the Forest Service knows we demand a plan for a new road before they shut us out for good.

I grew up on Chandler Road in Quincy and this was always our weekend getaway. I would be disgusting if it were to be closed. I’ve got 3 young kids that I’ve been dreaming of taking up there so that they could enjoy and appreciate the amazing area I got to grow up in.

Please just make a new road that doesn't erode into the lake before you destroy the old one. That's all anyone is asking here. Be courteous and allow people to enjoy the true beauty of Plumas County

Please provide us with an alternate road down to the lake before you close the current road. We really want to be able to access the lake with our kayaks and canoe. It does not seem right to make this access so difficult that our family and others would not be able get down to this beautiful lake.

Please provide for continued motor vehicle access and parking to the lake before decommissioning the existing road. I appreciate your efforts to eliminate sediment into lake waters. Thank you.

STOP restricting access to OUR public lands by closing roads. My wife walks with a cane and will not be able to get to the lake without this access.

Please do not close vehicle access to this beautiful area. Outdoor recreation is becoming more and more popular, not only does a route on the MVUM allow those who are unable to walk that distance, it also brings money to the local communities.
