my son has been a part of the music department since 6th grade and he almost quit. if it wasn't for Mrs. Kastner in 7th grade showing him how great music is. She must stay at the high school and continue the choral program and bring out this love and passion for music from the middle schoolers

I cannot comprehend how taking away a highly respected and highly successful teacher, and consequently eliminating an entire portion of music education from the high school could possibly be the best solution for all involved. Why break what ain't broke.?!!!

Music is the most important thing ever to me. Music helps people express who they are! And your going to take that away from me and the other young students in band and chorus? What's your reason? I honestly would love to know. Mrs.Kastner is the greatest teacher I have ever known and that there ever will be. Please don't take her away from us! All her students have such a close relationship with her. I love Mrs.Kastner and I refuse to let you take her from us!

This is so disheartening. As the former choral director of North Arlington HS and middle school I fought for this program. I made sure before I left that it was in good hands and have watched as Emily has taken it to new heights. I brag about how successful this program is 10 yrs after my leaving. And I marvel at the wonderful things it's former members have done. I'm am truly disappointed in this news and will stand with the Arts and Emily in her fight.

Please don't take away my cousins whole entire life. She's so passionate about what she does. Her and her students don't deserve to be taken away from things that they love and are passionate about.

Keep Mrs. Kastner or have all of your students quit band due to one dumb move.

You won't find a more dedicated person to her craft. Please keep Emily in the HS and middle school; the kids need her! Music isn't a nice-to-have program; it is essential, helping kids learn discipline and focus, boost math and science scores, and the importance of working as a cohesive group to achieve something beautiful. Music is important, and Emily is the amazing key to its success.

Please keep Emily in the positions she is. Continuing the programs she has developed is so very important to those kids and to their growth as not only musicians but people.

I would've quit band if it wasn't for Corky. She taught me so many things. She made me realize that a world without music is a world that I don't want to partake in. I don't understand why the BOE is trying to downgrade her to the elementary schools. She has way too much talent for it to be tossed teaching 4&5th graders who don't really have much interest for music. Trust me I truly began to understand my music and my instrument in middle school. She's amazing at her job and without her we won't have a high school chorus. Which is unfair for many students. Keep Corky!!!!

As a former student of the NAHS band, I have seen many of the outstanding accomplishments she gave to many students who were in a point of their life where success didn't seem real. Emily has an outstanding work ethic, and strong leadership skill. Emily has been a treasure to the north arlington community. Keep her in the north arlington school district, she's done so much to get where she is now. Let her continue to show greatness, and teach greatness!

In 6th grade i made the executive decision to quit band and give up on music and Corcoran was the reason i did not. Ms Corcoran motivated me in ways that others could not, and she was constantly there to help me through things that may have seemed impossible at the time. Through high school I've had 4 different band directors and Mr and Mrs Kastner are by far the best and impact the lives of their students the most. They love their job and it shows with how passionate they are when they are in front of their students. It is unfair to do what was once done to K, to now corky. Corcoran and Kastner love their students more than any teacher I have met. Regardless of what the situation is, Corcoran is a great band director and choir director and she should not have to leave. #keepcorky :)

This is horrible. I was considering joining chorus next year, and she definitely shouldn't be moved! I know from my brother how devoted of a teacher she is, and she doesn't deserve this at all.

I am shocked that the Board has made this decision. What will happen to our high school chorus?! Mrs Kastner does a Phenomenal job with each and every concert; the kids put on first rate performances. Chorus is well attended; there is a definite need for it for our high school students! I implore the Board to reconsider. Keep Mrs Kastner where she is and certainly Keep Our Chorus!

It is clear that Mrs. Corcoran Kastner has had a profound effect on the students she teaches. A chorus program is important to any high school. Please allow Mrs. Corcoran to continue working with the students who so greatly appreciate her.
