At the end of the day you are trying to judge the actions of a 15th-century man by 21st-century laws. By doing so you have to discredit the rule of the land. You have to denounce moral and socially acceptable practices for the time period. The land wasn't stolen, it was conquered by violent conquest. To the victors went the spoils. How did the Nobles become noble? They took it. And with it all spoils of war. The list of terrible deeds is endless but are fitting for the time period. It's not our history. It's not Columbus Catholic High School's history, it the worlds. And 500 years from today people are going to look back at things we do every day, our social norms and our rules of the land, and shake their heads at our barbaric ways. As man evolved so did social and moral values. But disregarding where we have been as a civilization is counterproductive to guiding us to where we need to go.

I graduated in 1960. The name Columbus Catholic was an icon back then. The students were a proud group We were taught by Religious Nuns and Priests. Father Rossiter was the principle. Our scool was the best around in scholastics and sports. A name is just a name but it belongs to our past. Please keep it and the Statue.
