Dear Vickie Hawkins,
It has recently been brought to our attention that our beloved RA, Colleen Laser, has resigned due to unfortunate circumstances. We were also alerted that she is being asked to leave our Coltrane family by Friday. The residents living on the second floor are exasperated that she would be asked to leave so suddenly, especially with exams coming up. With a new RA coming to replace her, we aren’t happy with this abrupt transition. All the girls who electronically sign their names below expressed immense discomfort with this. We are all coming up on our first exam period in college. This is a very stressful and emotional time in all our lives to make this kind of transition. We would appreciate the consideration of the girls on the floor when making this rash decision. We refer to Colleen as “Mom” because she’s our mom away from home at Appalachian that we turn to in times of need or distress. We do not feel comfortable with a new RA that is not familiar with all of us at this crucial time of the year. We request more time with our APP mom and that she be able to stay until the end of the semester to tend to our emotional and mental needs.

I have been spending my time reading through your stories about what Colleen has meant to our floor and it honestly floors me how much she has done for all of us. I am working on getting a meeting set up with the administration to show them exactly why we need her here until the end of the semester. This momentum is entirely because of you and I am just happy to be a part of this with you.

Please just let her finish the semester. Its so unfair to kick her out right before exams when we are all so stressed out already.
Identifying as Agender on a floor full of cisgendered females hasn't been easy, but Colleen has always been accepting and changed my name on my door to my preferred one, offering to do anything she could to help me feel more at home here and I really appreciate her having been my RA. Please let her stay until the end of the semester
I misspelled her last name *Lasar Sorry!
We love Colleen!! We need her to stay through the semester!
We love Colleen! We need her to finish out our semester with us!

Colleen is literally the only reason I havent dropped out yet. She helps me so much with my anxiety and I dont know what I would do without her here for finals week.
