We, the parents and residents of Tewksbury, strongly oppose the proposed reduction of the third-grade teaching staff at Tewksbury Elementary School for the 2025–2026 school year.

Currently, there are three second-grade classes of 14–15 students each. The district plans to consolidate these into just two classes for third grade, creating class sizes of 21–22 students — a significant and harmful increase that goes against the district’s own strategic goal of maintaining small class sizes.

This cut is not just a staffing decision — it is a direct divestment from our children’s education, our teachers’ wellbeing, and the values that brought many of us to this community.

We respectfully urge the Tewksbury Board of Education to:
• Preserve the third third-grade class for 2025–2026
• Reallocate funding if needed from non-classroom-based roles
• Explore all alternate solutions (grants, creative staffing, ESSER/Title II funds)

Let’s show our students they are the priority — not a line on a spreadsheet.
