This town needs more than dry cleaners and banks. Please move this approval along ASAP to help ensure more business for our town.

Laws evolve as society evolves. Prohibition is over but the codes in Glencoe governing liquor stem from post-Prohibition it appears. This is 2015 and we live in a community where people want more than one nice restaurant with the ability to drink.
In an article this week, the Village implied that the inability of a restaurant to control alcohol consumption from BYOB was a reason to prohibit it because of the risk of drunk driving. BYOB will in no way increase drunk driving anymore than a restaurant with a license to sell liquor to its patrons.
Restaurant bars I've visited on the North Shore, including one very close to my Glencoe home don't control how much people drink either. We've all seen that or even experienced it. The patrons make that decision. This is not a college town but one of mature adults who overall exercise good judgment. I've noticed that people who drink too much are driven home by designated drivers.

I do not live there , but have eaten there. It is a lovely restaurant and would be a shame if it closed. Really disappointing to hear this.

The People of Glencoe desire to have this wonderful restaurant Cibo in their town, for eateries are lacking and this restaurant is lovely and great food. Cibo Trattoria should have a liquor license from the City of Glencoe so the clientele can enjoy their drinks with incredible food.

Having served on the Village Board for 8 years, I assume that there is a valid reason for not issuing the license. I think it incumbent on the principals of Cibo to at least set forth the reason the Village states there is a delay so that each of us may be fully informed. Clearly if the Village is acting inappropriately or illegally knowing all of the facts, there would be every reason to be concerned.

It's so nice that the village has a new restaurant that the community is so excited about- such a disappointment that Cibo was not only denied a liquor license but also BYOB privileges!? The restaurant previously in the same space served alcohol- I don't understand-it should not be difficult to provide the villagers with what they would enjoy and bring in revenue

It would be ashame to loose this new addition to Glencoe. The restaurant owners are dedicated to their community to bring an upscale restaurant to the community and the people of Glencoe. What a loss would it be. A grand scale, they are a family owned restaurant ready to bring a missing piece to Glencoe. As of now, the only restaurant that does exist is Guildhall, does it have the best food, No... Does Glencoe need another addition, yes, and it must be Cibbo. Do not let this restaurant close because of politics, because that is what it comes down to, period!!!

This is shameful. The village board needs to do the right thing and grant CIBO (at very least) a BYOB license--preferably a full liquor license.
