Keep Cherrydale Library Open

A warm inviting library serving many families in the area. Arlington county is losing so much of its charm and character, and this is another thoughtless and inconsiderate proposal.

I'm a frequent user of this branch and it would be a huge loss to this area of the county if Cherrydale was closed.

It’s such a critical part of our neighborhood, allowing kids and parents to walk to a common space and have access to a universe of information and real human connections, family friendly activities and infinitely more. Losing it means more people in cars, less connection, less information, more isolation. The community will lose part of its soul.

We love this library. It's old and beautiful and cozy and so welcoming to families. Please keep this resource open!

I've been a weekly patron of Cherrydale Library for almost 30 years. Most of the time I walk to the library and would be sad to not have a neighborhood spot where I know the staff. My children and I have fond memories of story time and browsing for books. They are adults now and library card holders in their respective cities. I am sure their love of a local library began at Cherrydale.

Keep Cherrydale OPEN!!!

Keep the library OPEN...stop building absurd roundabouts and use the money saved to fund Cherrydale.

I've been going to the Cherrydale library for over 50 years-- since I was a baby. I walked there solo as a free range little kid (back after I walked home from Woodmont, which lost the battle to stay open as a school). I picked up the spikey pods that fell off the once small, now large tree in front of the library. I took my own daughter to Cherrydale when she was little, and she spend many afternoons there after middle and high school. I've attended events as well! I could tell you all about the numbers, and you know them. Financially, this isn't the big cost savings. This is robbing people of all financial means of a resource that feels safe, secure, and inviting. In a historical time that involves exclusion and divisiveness, taking away a physical and emotional space that welcomes all feels like a huge mistake and backstep.

Keep our historical neighborhood gem alive!

I have lived in Cherrydale since 1997 and I strongly oppose closing this library! It serves the community well and is a tiny dot of expense in the overall county budget. I suggest you take aim and line items of significance if you want to make a difference in the cost of running the county. The Cherrydale library is a cost effective and valuable service to the county's citizens.

This library is a neighborhood institution and should be protected.

Local libraries serve everyone. Cherrydale Library is a suburban oasis.

We need this calm and safe space for people to gather, particularly tweens and teens after school.

As a lifelong member of the Friends of the Arlington Library I’m so proud of our excellent system. I believe strongly that the Cherrydale Library fills an essential role as an anchor for a neighborhood that needs that public sense of place. Please don’’t shut down that community. It’s over one hundred years in the making, but once gone it can’t/wont be replaced. It’s easy to tear down but much more difficult in time and money and community to rebuild. Thanks for your thoughtful consideration.
