Keep Cherrydale Library Open

I have taken my children to multiple storytimes at this library. It is always buzzing with activity. So many people depend on this neighborhood library.

Keep Cherrydale library!!

Cherrydale Library is an essential public resource for the North Arlington community and for Dorothy Hamm middle schoolers. We should be spending money to improve it, not trying to close it!

We depend on our neighborhood library. The costs of keeping it open are so small compared to the benefits it provides.

We love Cherrydale library and visit it weekly!

I go to Cherrydale library several days a week to read newspapers. While there, I often hear the laughter of little kids who are learning to read.

Cherrydale Library helps make this a neighborhood, we all wish it could be bigger, if it can’t be, please let be the useful and cherished one that it is.

As a resident of Cherrydale and a staff member at a neighborhood elementary school, I can attest to how often the community uses the Cherrydale library. Students speak of going there all the time, and the summer program is especially instrumental in keeping them engaged in reading when not in school. The library is also important to those in our community who do not have the means to purchase whatever book they want at a store or online. Arlington should be protecting any resource that directly benefits every member of our county - and, in particular, one that encourages people (especially our youngest) to read!

Cherrydale Library is a vital part of the north Arlington community and should remain open.

We use this branch at least once every week. To check out books for my granddaughter, return books or pick up books ordered delivered to this branch.

This is a valuable gathering space, a historic piece of architecture and a much loved resource for North Arlington. The Central Library, while close, lacks the community programming and spirit, as well as a haven, for youth in our neighborhoods -- young children as well as those at Dorothy Hamm. Also, saves gas and air pollution by being within walking distance to so many. Since Cherrydale does not have a community center, it is our community center. Cut back the hours if you need to, but don't close. How much are you really going to save at the expense of a resource that makes Arlingtonians happy?

Libraries are amazing resources, and not just for books. Cherrydale library is very community-oriented which is fabulous for now and is also a great role model going forward.

I grew up going here every week!

This library is a wonderful part of our community and a critical gathering place for neighbors. Our three year old son, Oliver, visits this library every week. For neighborhood children this is wonderful opportunity to learn right here in the community, with in walking distance for all who use it without having to get in a car. Its closure would be a massive loss for our community and only create minimal savings that would have no real impact on the County’s budget.

This is our family’s go-to library and our favorite place to visit with our three young children. It’s easy to access, walkable, and incredibly valuable to us. We would be heartbroken to see it close.

Closing this branch is a horrible idea, penny wise and pound foolish. Do better! Thank you.

This library is such a great resource for children in the Cherrydale community. Keep it open!!

This is our GO TO library - with three children below the age of 9, and as Cherrydale residents, this is a critical resource for the growth and development of our children, and provides a unique space immediately in our neighborhood that can't be found in other county libraries.
