Chancellor Llorens innovative foresight has created diversity while maintaining the universities histories importance. The Chancellors ingenious curricula has given the university global presence. We must allow Chancellor Llorens and staff to continue to press towards that which they have begun.

Dr. Llorens has made a remarkable difference in the way the alumni view our University. As First VP of the Alumni Federation, I have personally been involved in conversations with alums who feel that the university is beginning to return to its rightful spot among HBCUs. We must never forget that we still lead and others follow. I am proud to be a Southernite. My husband, all three of my children, my daughter-in-law and my son-in-law, are all graduates of our "Dear Southern".

I did a little research to see what the fuss is about. I check 2theadvocate.com periodically to catch up on the local BR scene. Being as far away as I am, it is sometimes difficult to know who is zooming who! In this case, I did not have any insight into the issues. So, I decided to investigate. I am still unsure of whether or not there is any one right point of view. What I have learned is that the community seems to support the Chancellor, the students support him, the faculty senate also seems to support him. In addition, the comments by Mason suggests that he has no solid rationale for his actions. It does seem, however, that he would be the primary beneficiary of having no Chancellor. And, it seems also that he would be on a more solid footing IF he is inclined to support a future merger of SU into an LSU-led state system. I have read and signed the petition. There is always a good case to be made whenever there is a separation of powers. This seems to be another such case.
