The cafeteria has been one of my largest sources of anxiety just from the noise the number of people and chaos. I always dread the first week of school when we don’t have Bruin block. Even though i’ll be a senior next year I’m sure many other kids feel the same way I did. Removing Bruin block will affect students mental health and ability to succeed in school.

Although some students may not take advantage of this, it’s been a huge help to my son to have available. Please don’t eliminate Bruin block.

Student athletes NEED Bruin block to be able to complete homework, get extra instruction when needed, and to make up missed assignments, re-do tests and have a SANE high school experience. Athletes will not have an opportunity to participate in clubs or music programs without Bruin Block. Bruin Block is essential to academic performance, mental well being and social emotional health.

Going into 11th grade, I feel that taking away Bruin block could have a dramatic effect on my grades and mental health.

The social aspect for both my sons in getting to eat lunch with whomever will be effected by having ABC lunch where they will be forced to eat with their period class. As both are extremely shy, they are very much anxious about this change.

Bruin Block helps me stay on top of my classes and get make up work! It’s also a time to see friends I don’t have in my classes!

Future parent here, as a student who benefited from extra help at school, that’s great, as for club meetings, and lunch I get, touting socialization time that’s BS. So long as this program is structured and every student is accounted for maybe forcing them to choose the teacher help for a full week, or the club option for a full week, that way students have an option but no chance for goofing and hiding out make them pick Friday the week before by posting which teachers or clubs will be available (make this list available to parents so we can nag our kids) then students can sign up and teachers and parents can hold students accountable. This might make the change more visible for administrators, also the this testing thing sounds like BS. I know as a student I just filled in all A, B, C on those yearly bubble tests. I only cared if I graduate. I don’t care if the school existed after I left it. So telling kids this is how school gets money for programs, and extra computers is all a blah blah blah, instead straight up lie and tell them they can’t graduate, they will sit up and take notice, tell parents the truth, let parents decide if kid can sit out of testing. This way you won’t have kids like me who can’t grasp the bigger picture, causing scores to lower to a 4 vs the 5 the admin wants....which is still crap by the way.

These kids need consistency in schools and given any help they need.

Without Bruin block, no student will have time to participate in clubs or make up tests. The administration is stupid for wanting to give this up.

I needed this to help redo test and quizzes to be able to stay on task and be able to graduate. My sister will need this, she is a freshman
