Bristol University Nursery is a parent-governed, parent-funded nursery. The University Nursery Parents Association (UNPA) is a non profit-making organisation and a registered charity. That means that while it has a skilled professional management team like any other nursery, there's no-one siphoning off the profits. Every penny generated by your fees is spent on caring for your children. It is motivated by providing quality care not profits. The UNPA committee is elected annually and actively welcomes approaches from new parents with skills, knowledge or enthusiasm to offer. The committee is a team of dedicated parents who meet monthly to support and direct the work done by the Nursery Manager. All have a connection to the university with one or both parents being a student or staff member. In addition there are a number of non-university parents from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. The committee an input on everything from ordering new play equipment to balancing the budget. The University of Bristol wants to “take an informed decision about the most effective arrangements for nursery provision and we intend to explore the possibilities through a tendering process.” The University believes “it is in the best interests of students, staff and the University community as a whole that we explore the alternatives and make a well informed decision.” If you believe that the Bristol University Nursery is best managed by a parent-governed, not for profit organisation, rather than a profit making entity where the parents have no say in the running of the nursery, then please add your signature below.
