Young people should be able to use the bathroom/locker room without worrying that someone of the opposite sex will walk in on them. We need to protect our children's privacy and safety. I cannot understand why we are taking away the rights of the majority to protect the minority. This decision must be reversed!

I am a student at derby high school and I will be a sophmore in the fall of 2016 and I don't feel comfortable using the restrooms at school if I may walk in to find a guy "claiming" to be a girl in the women's restroom. Same goes as the locker rooms. If transgenders really want to have their own restroom then their should be a family restroom, or multi gender restroom. I hope that this issue can be resolved by the time school starts in august.

I don't want to be hateful, but allowing the opposite sex into boys/girls restrooms is not only unsafe, it is irresponsible. Teens will use this as an opportunity to explore in inappropriate ways and some may use this as an opportunity to victimize others from the opposite sex. From what I heard, the children who identify as transgender never even requested this! Restrooms should be anatomically assigned, regardless of the gender one identifies with, if their parts are male, they should use the boy's restroom.

This is insane that this is even being discussed. I can't think of a more unsafe, idiotic, impractical policy.

Transgender restrooms are a terrible idea. Bathrooms must remain for the gender you were born.

I know with the Derby Board supporting this degree that every student has been put at greater risk for sexual harassment or sexual abuse. This must be overturned!

Please just get a family bathroom in between the boys and girls bathroom. This is so absurd!

Keep bathroom as they have been for years. We may be getting into more trouble with others out there who really want to cause more problems.

For the sake of our children's safety, please reverse this decision! Public safety is also at risk when there is a public school event such as football games, basketball games etc.

Letting the boys in the girls bathroom and vice versa is not the answer. This age group has enough personal issues with themselves that throwing the opposite sex in the mix is very uncomfortable for them
