It is ludicrous to try to change history, unless history was previously in contrast to the truth. This cross is part of the history and truth of its location. It may not be politically correct to some people but it reflects truth with no ill intention. KEEP THE CROSS!!

Do not allow another piece of our religious freedoms to be taken away from us or soon we will have none left. What's next, we won't be allowed to walk through the park wearing a cross around our necks. The time is now to stand up and fight against this assault on our religious freedoms! And, to all of you who say, "I don't care one way or another, it's just a cross, what's the big deal?" Believe this; before it's over they will want to take away something that is a big deal to you. Everyone who believes in the freedoms this country offers us should stand together are soon we all will lose!

Our system is built on the idea of majority rule while protecting the rights of the minority, but this is ridiculous. 3 or 4 people a year have a problem with the cross according to the complaint being brought up. That is ludicrous. Furthermore, there is no separation of church and state. That comes from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote where he talks about the implications of the First Amendment. The law says that no government entity shall make a law respecting any one religion. With that said, keep this about history and not religion.

i moved to East Hill a couple of years ago and visited the park. While visiting I noticed the cross and it made me feel right at home because it made me realize that there were apparently others in the community who recognized that Jesus died on the cross for mans sins so that we could have eternal life. I'm disappointed that there are a few who now want to take down the cross but the good news is that the Lord is still alive and doing a work no matter what happens. I would predict that those who are trying to remove the cross will one day accept the one who died on the cross.

That cross was there when I played at Bayview as a kid. At no time did I feel the oppressive weight of Christianity brought on by the cross towering above me, lol.
At any rate, the cross was a pagan symbol long before Christianity started. It was an American Indian symbol long before Christianity was introduced here. So people are free to look at the cross & interpret it in any of these ways. Thus, how could it be the issue these groups claim it to be?

I'm really getting tired of the Christians having to be the only ones forced to be tolerate of others; but others can't be tolerate of our beliefs and traditions. I say keep the Cross right where it is.

The beautiful cross is a sign of comfort to me and many others. I admire it every time I see it. It is such a big part of the history of Bayview Park, Bayou Texar and East Hill.
