As a former member of Atlanta CV, the tie to the community for the corps is an important part of our history. Atlanta CV (Corpsvets) "grew up" there. Tradition is very important to Drum and Bugle Corps across the United States. It would be a shame to throw away the tradition, sense of community and the opportunities that Drum and Bugle Corps presents to our young people because of the musings of one man. Let my CV Family stay in Rockmart where we belong.

Shame on the Polk school board trying to take money out of our city and county. You've already cost us valuable school teachers but now this. I hope we vote you all out in the next election. Mr Hunter get lost

Why deny a small community like Rockmart the potential of $100,000 in sales earnings for a year. This is entertainment for Rockmart. We don't have to drive somewhere else. The money is spent and kept in Rockmart. In one weekend the members of Atlanta CV spent $1,600.10 at Walmart. That's PROFIT for the store and PROFIT to go towards the employees' quarterly bonuses. Why are you all so determined to deny hard working people, as well as shop owners, a source of additional income? Please keep something positive in Rockmart. Why let ONE person cause thousands to be denied of a positive influence, positive entertainment.

I think that Rockmart High School is lucky to host Atlanta CorpVets! As the 2007-2008 Drum Major for Cedartown High School, I'm jealous that Rockmart students have had such talented musicians to be around so regularly! I think PSD should reconsider their vote regarding this matter. What the board members may not understand is that these musicians become role models for the members of the RHS band. When you're able to see hard working individuals do well it makes you want to work harder to be better! Why would you want to take that away from the youth of Polk County? I'm certain that the CorpVets are adding much more to the community of Rockmart than they are taking away. Some things are about more than money. Sometimes an investment isn't financial, it's about sharing your talents with younger people to help them be better. I have given hours of my time as an alumni of the Cedartown High School Marching Band to assist drum majors, individuals, small groups, and the entire band without asking for a penny. I taught drum majors Shacari Beard 08-09, Meghann Bentley 12-13, asst. drum major Lauren Pippin 09-10, and have volunteered for band camps and through out the marching seasons during 2009-2014. I helped out in order to make the program that I loved so much more successful in the future. I hate to here that the RHS Marching Band would lose the wonderful opportunity that they've been given to have such amazing musicians available to ask questions, tips, and especially critique their performances to make them better.
