The garden is vital to low income families especially with inflation. Our children deserve to be educated on proper nutrition and the value it brings.

Matthew 25:35-40 35: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36: I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. 37: Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, 38: When did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 39: When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? 40: The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

A community garden not only provides fresh food to children and families, but also serves as a safe space for community members to learn, volunteer, build relationships, and so much more. This is essential and absolutely must be re-opened. There is no other option.

The garden on Astor made a big difference to those who needed food, it was a safe secure location within this community, at this moment the garden is abandoned and overrun with weeds, it would be ashamed to let this place just go to waste. It has come to my conclusion that any and everything that is positive in the Black community is shut down or taken away.
