Only those trained in veterinary medicine and therapy should be allowed to treat animals. Veterinary professionals are not allowed to treat humans. The same respect should be given to the veterinary profession. It is for the safety of the clients and their animals.

PT and Rehab is not the same in animals and people. The training is different, the physiology is different.

A human would never allow a veterinary doctor to advise therapy, set treatment plans, create splints, etc for themselves - why would it be advisable to allow PTs to treat animals?

Just like anything in veterinary medicine, only DVMs and support staff trained in veterinary medicine, anatomy, physical therapy, and animal behavior and handling should be allowed to do physical therapy on animals.

This bill would undermine all the work the veterinary profession does to keep pets and animals safe, and in doing so, keep the public safe. Other states already have provisions stating if human medical professionals want to treat veterinary patients they must be a part of the veterinary community. That means extra training, education, and certification proving they are capable of working with the multiple species this profession sees. This bill also makes human medicine look bad. If human practitioners are willing to use a one-size-fits-all approach to veterinary patients, what does that say about how they practice human medicine?
This is a bad idea all around.

This is ridiculous. Humans would expect a trained professional to perform any medical treatment, so why would it be ok to allow an untrained person to work on my pets.

Well this is beyond ridiculous. Animals need the care of "animal specialists" not human medical folks. Why aren't we asking our dentist to treat our dog. Or better yet, how about asking your vet to diagnose and treat your car when it stops running. This is ALL about a money grab from people who see $$$$ signs and want only to increase their riches at the expense of our beloved pets. WE MUST ask for who is sponsoring and pushing this Bill so we can sue them to kingdom come when mishaps arise, which they will. Egregious and despicable.

Through the years, I've had too many dogs with a variety of different medical and in some cases serious issues. I would only trust a trained and licensed vet.
