An ice rink provides leisure, employment and the opportunity for professional skaters (ice hockey and figures) to excel their talent. One of the few sports facilities that provides leisure later in the day, thus keeping youths off the streets.

My son travelled 4 times a week from the Isle of Wight to train at this rink, eventually hr lodged eith his coach so that he could train there full time. Without this rink he wouldnt hsve qualified for the british championships or gone on to becomi g a professional figure skater performing in Disney on ice for the last six years travelling to 27 countries. Children in Basingstoke and the Isleof Wight need this rink.

I’ve been skating for 5 years and consider the rink as a second home I’m an avid fan of the bison aswell and I believe that it is vital that we keep this fan base in Basingstoke . We are a family .

Spent my childhood on this rink, there are very talented skaters that have spent years and years waking up at 4 in the morning to do what they love. And people want to take that away? People are so pationate about this ice skating rink. Coaches that have worked there asses of to teach people how to skate will all go to waste too? If we can spend £300million on shops I think the council or something can spend abit on upgrading the rink

The ice rink is such a big part of everyone’s lives. And a big part of the Basingstoke community. It would be a shame to loose it

We travel up frequently from Somerset to use the facility and enjoy the ice hockey. We would be devastated to see it go. I have very fond memories of my childhood in Basingstoke there.

A successful hockey team and all the lower developmental work which goes along with it operates from this building. The council abdicated their responsibilities when they sold the team and building they used to operate to a commercial interest and then failed to hold them to account or enforce upkeep of the site. Now they just seem to want to invest in more shopping facilities on a LEISURE park 2 mins drive from the town shopping centre. Reinvest in this facility now - we don’t need more shops!

My family have used this rink since it opened and have had many happy hours here. All future children in Basingstoke and surrounding area should have the opportunity to use it not just for the pleasure they get from it and the friends they can make there but it's good exercise and gets them away from their computers at home.
