My nephew plays for the junior bisons and it would be a shame for him to have to stop.

There is nothing else like it anywhere near and it is very well used, it brings people into Basingstoke who won't visit if the rink goes.

My young granddaughter and quite a number of friends use this rink faithfully every week. How are they supposed to improve and build up their skills without this access? How can Britain build and keep its ice teams skills, whether figure, speed, dancing or hockey, if the individuals and the teams cannot train and practise reasonably locally?
Please read all the comments and reconsider.

The community needs more facilities to tackle the increasing obesity amongst young people. Anything which encourages people to move off their settees and away from their computer screens should be encouraged not demolished.

It is SO important for ice rinks to stay open, they offer amazing recreational activity for friends and family, and brilliant exercise too. And for the people training, they become a skating family and to close this would be a travesty.

The rink is well supported despite its condition. Imagine what a modern facility could bring in the way of users and associated revenue, both to the rink and to the leisure park as a whole.

In an age of obesity you want to shut another sporting and activity venue.....

Speaking purely from an Ice Hockey standpoint, Basingstoke needs its clubs.. they provide a very competitive set of teams at all levels and they need ice to be able to show what what they can do.

The description says it all. With our current obesity epidemic in the state it is, removing a facility through which so many - including young children - have access to and actively enjoy an incredible form of exercise, seems counter intuitive.
