Given the multitude of apparent advatages to use the Fox River and downtown Algonquin, moving this event is, at best, counterintuitive and, at worst, representative of ever-myopic government.

The two times I have attended Founder's Days since I have moved out of Algonquin, I left disappointed. Art in the park is/was lacking, trash-n-treasures is gone, and the location moved. The fireworks were a highlight of Founder's Days since Algonquin never offered them at the Fourth of July like many of the other cities. Is this potential move because of finances? The monies used for fireworks originally came from the entrance fee INTO the founder's Day festival, however, it has lost it's appeal since it was moved from the downtown area. The Middle school location is hot and offers no shade or stream. The aesthetic value is lacking. Algonquin, you are loosing your people! If you need a hint as to how to put on a good festival, copy Crystal Lake's Lake Side Festival and not Carpentersville's. To get some idea's of what your people want, send out a "survey monkey" to your residents and ask them how to bring Algonquin back to its long summer days with the paddle boats and parks. Try getting some younger people on your board, they might have some fresher ideas. Good luck Algonquin! If you move fireworks, I will not be visiting. -former Miss Algonquin

Algonquin is stagnant. The lack of update (regarding Founder's Days) reminds me of being on Hospice! You need some young blood in or ON your board to bring Algonquin back. Founder's Day was fun as a kid BECAUSE it was down by the river. Folks who lived on the river (my parents) would have many people over for parties. I have since moved and came back to Algonquin only twice. Both times, it was hot and the grass was dry and brittle. There were no tree's and it lost it's luster. I will not be back for Founder's days if your fest remains where it is. -Julie Ryg

Village wants to draw residents into downtown, yet relocates fireworks? Sounds contradictory. How much more can our downtown shrink away?

Every year you, the founders board, are ruining founders days more and more. DO NOT move the fireworks and bring the fest back to Towne Park where it belongs.

You, founders board, are killing what tradition was left of founders days. I hope your closed minded group is happy.

If Algonquin Founders’ Days began in 1960 with a group of local businessmen who wanted to celebrate their community, I highly doubt their vision was to have it in some subdivision other than downtown Algonquin where it all began! Keep the vision alive and keep it along the river and DOWNTOWN!!!

My family and friends enjoy the fireworks for 25 years. Its a sad day when it changes to plain old basic fest. lets raise some money and bring it back forever.

I would not like to watch them from the middle of a residential area; keep them on the Fox

Fireworks should always be on the River. The 10K route was ruined. Don't do the same to the fireworks. This is not Schaumburg !

I grew up on the fireworks by the fox river. My brother used to take me and now I take my sister. We can't just move them!
