If it’s too much work for the leaders to follow up on the process with members, especially new members, then they should step aside just means their heart is not in the right place for the right reasons. Too political and missing the point, kind of like our government and businesses today, it’s not about the money or status it’s about the people and what they are striving for!

Sorry to hear this. Did you file a grievance? I’m worried that us doing so was the right thing but not the most popular thing to do moving forward

We did this! They know we did. It’s really crazy the way this all went down. We missed an online deadline

I grew up being a 10 yr 4-H member and now I have 3 girls in or starting 4-H. As a parent I want to go crazy trying to make sure all is done right while my kids are learning nothing and I have to spend more on private lessons yet.

I am a 4-H Superintendent and no child should be turned away due to a deadline that wasn’t communicated by the club. I send emails, wrote on our FB page and even try to call all my kids that I know have missing items especially my minis and first year members to ensure this doesn’t happen. So sorry for your daughter.

Well, we did not have the outcome we hoped for :(
Anna will work hard for next year!
Hopefully the club will make some changes and improvements in communications to first year members!!
Change can only be made when passion persists.

This program is too important in the lives of children and developing them in to hard working and up standing adults to turn them away, especially a first year! Let her show!

Who in there right mind would stop young, sweet girl from doing what she loves? Is riding her horse hurting anyone? NO! Stop with the nonsense and let he ride

Thanks for your opinion. There were 10year members that this happened to as well. The website navigation is horrendous and I claim to know a bit about web design and user friendliness of sites. 4H should correct their system or go back to paper Showbills - which we submitted by deadline.

Doesn't seem right to let a technicality override hard work and good intentions. Please do the right thing, especially since there would appear to be no harm in bending this one rule.

Wow thanks for that contribution Lane, you’re really helping out here. If you’re just going to argue against the purpose of the petition, why don’t you keep your opinions to yourself.

It is imperative that we hold our members accountable. There are over 80 kids in Horse & Pony club that all signed up correctly and got everything turned in. It is up to the member and/or their parents to figure out paperwork and registration navigation, and failure to do so is a valid reason to not allow those members to show. Rules are rules and exceptions should not be made for incorrect/incomplete registration.

Absolutely disgusting. To think that something as trite and trivial as a ~second~ registration that they can’t even explain properly could ruin opportunities like this for passionate participants is terribly disappointing. 4H, it’s time to review your own core values and how well your public expression matches your actions (it doesn’t).

Remember what you are about. This is a first year contestant who did their best to comply. If you are on the fence about a decision always lean in the direction of the children.

Making it hard on the children due to paperwork deadlines is uncalled for at this age.
