Please sign in support of opening a fourth section of 2nd grade at Kipling Elementary School. Currently, our 1st grade has 23 students per classroom, and this number can potentially rise over the summer. The district is currently planning on keeping only three sections of 2nd grade, leading to unprecedented levels of students in a classroom. Class size does make a difference, as younger developing children thrive and learn best in smaller class sizes.

Neighboring communities have smaller class sizes, as do other Deerfield schools. We need to be proactive and insist that Kipling opens this 4th section of 2nd grade now, so that a decision is not made late in the summer. This will leave the school scrambling to hire a teacher who may be less qualified and then redistribute the class lists in a less thoughtful manner. This mistake has been made in the past at Kipling. Let's learn from that, and prevent it from occurring by taking action now.

Please, both parents of all students sign this petition so we can have the best experience for our children and their teachers!
