On the weekend of April 21st, Republicans in the 37th Legislative District met to elect delegates to the Washington state GOP convention inside Dimmitt Middle School. The meeting was interrupted by King County Republican Party Chairman Lori Sotelo when the group elected a chairman to lead the meeting who she did not agree with. Because the chairman that was elected allegedly did not support the candidate that Sotelo promoted, Sotelo tried to shut down the meeting. The chairman was elected according to the rules and regulations that the GOP set forth using Roberts Rules; everything was conducted legitimately. The GOP had reserved the room until 2PM, but because Sotelo did not get her way she made everyone exit the facility. The group had to then meet outside to finish the meeting. Sotelo, incorrectly stated that the insurance on the room was no longer valid because the chairman elected supported a different candidate than Sotelo - this is false. Sotelo tried to use her position as a form of bullying to force the group into doing what she said. Additionally, she REQUIRED everyone to pay $10 to participate in the meeting. This is not the type of person we need running any level of government, be it Republican or Democrat. Our system is based in fairness, where everyone has a voice. Sotelo tried to silence people that did not agree with her. Our history teaches us that people like this only serve themselves and the advancement of the elite. We the people, call for the removal of King County Republican Party Chairman Lori Sotelo immediately.
