I join my colleagues and other stakeholders in calling for the reversal of the sentence and unconditional release of artist Mohammed Yusuf, also known as AGY, and the suspension of any censorship laws, regulations and policies governing artistic expressions in Kano and elsewhere which are inconsistent with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all international conventions ratified by the country

All artists must be respected and enjoy the same freedom of speech accorded [or should be] to journalists - in other words no censorship!!

This act conducted by the kano government is a total disregard of our human fundamental rights in Nigeria. This is shameful. If judgement can be passed so quickly and easily this way, how come guilty ones in our society are treated with kids gloves? Nigeria is a mess.

Nigeria is a banana republic....The police should ask themselves one question: is the Governor going to be there for life..... and what on the books are they using to arrest the musician....?
