Kadcyla- saving lives for Metastatic Breast cancer sufferers

I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer nearly 3 years ago. I have already spent a year paying for perjeta before it was funded and am now staring down the face of potentially having to pay for kadcyla as well some time in the future. With 3 children between the ages of 7-12, I will of course do everything I have to in order to be around for them for as long as I can but I am also acutely aware of the strain losing a parent can place on a family and want to make sure I can leave my family in the best possible position I can should that time come and paying $5-6000 every 3 weeks will certainly not support that possibility. Cancer medication is changing so dramatically at the moment and this gives us all hope of at the very least a few extra years to spend with our families but without the support of Pharmac many of us will not be around to see these potentially life changing discoveries. Please help and support us so that we are able to be around for as long as possible to give our young families the extra time with us that we all deserve. Thank you. Kelly Rosie

Our women deserve better

"Following a cost-effectiveness analysis, the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended that the breast cancer drug Kadcyla (trastuzumab emtansine) should be routinely funded by the UK National Health Service (NHS)". Come on NZ Government! Evidence based practice!

Please fund this much needed drug. It's a no-brainer to anyone who's lost their mum, wife, daughter, sister, gran or friend to this horrible cancer.
