K-12 Science Curriculum: The Impacts of Uranium Mining on the Navajo Nation
We believe the purpose of education is to equip students with the historical context, research practices, and leadership experience necessary to pursue their own theory of change in the world - now. - Social Justice STEM
The impacts of environmental justice are local, curriculum should be too. Working in collaboration with community members and guided by the research of local scientists active in the field, we are developing a place-based K-12 science curriculum focusing on the impacts of uranium mining on the Navajo Nation. This is a grassroots effort by and for the communities impacted - all curriculum resources will be distributed for free so access to rigorous science curriculum is not a function of financial means.
