On Friday I was in Greenville, SC attending court in support of my brother. He was involved in a crime that resulted in the injury of a another person. He stands to serve time in prison because of his actions. I have found that through this process that many people including my friends and some family members, are not supportive. It has been a personal burden to be there for my brother and have to defend his actions to those I thought were my support system. I never thought I would get support from a complete stranger. After court I was approached by a women that had also attended the session. She was there observing court for school. She introduced herself as Maria and said she was advocating for someone close to her, Justin Granier. She handed me a card and began to tell me she understood. She offered her support and told me to ignore the negativity that I was being presented with and focus on the goal, my brother and his well being. With everything that my family has endured through all of this, fighting the lack of support and hearing the whispers has really taken a toll on us. It has beaten us down to the point that I felt like I was paying more attention to that instead of my brother. Over the weekend I pondered all of the words of encouragement that she spoke to me about. I realized I was consumed for all the wrong reasons. I feel completely inspired and ready to fight for my brother and to make him my number one priority. With that being said, I visited this site to sign this petition for her loved one, I only then realized how much she has changed my own journey. Reading Justin's story impacted me as well. I support her and her fight and will always remember this stranger that came to me to offer her support. She and this story has lifted me from a place I didn't know how to get away from. I'm from Poland, and have just seen the documentary about the LSP hospice. It's obvious for me that Justin should not have been punished so severely. Wish him prompt release!

A bad choice in no way deserves a life sentence! There's a huge difference between planning & committing murder and being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I pray that those harsh punishments are removed. FREE JUSTIN!!

This is cruel for someone who did not commit murder.there are people all over the united states who commit murder and only get twenty years on down to one year.

Justin being given a life sentence for a crime he did not commit is one of the most inhumane acts I have ever witnessed. To me, this is a waste of not only taxpayers money, but, more importantly a waste of one's life. Wrong place, wrong time should not be handed the same sentence as the one who actually committed the crime. Set Justin FREE!!!

I recently watched the documentary of "Serving Life" Wow what am impression Justin makes... I do believe if you do the crime you have to suffer what is given but to be charged for something you didn't even do is crazy!!! I feel that he has done enough time as well as making his stay in Prison the best of what it is. No state should make another person at fault for being at the wrong place at the wrong time... He didn't murder anyone. He has made remarkable choices while being incarcerated. It's ashame that with his education that he isn't out working being a honest man. I don't at all agree with his punishment!!!
