I just watched the documentary "Serving Life" and I also have read Justin's Story and I am deeply saddened by his situation. I hope that someone helps this young man to gain his freedom.

There needs to be some separation between malicious intent with premeditation and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's 2014 and Louisiana needs make some changes. A life sentence without parole should be handed down to someone that planned and executed a murder, someone that killed a child intentionally but to be given to someone like Justin, in the type of situation that got him convicted and detained is like telling someone that no matter what role you play, if you are present you're guilty. That is telling your youth that if you do happen to run with the wrong crowd and get caught up in a bad situation, you might as well kill someone while you're there or if you're robbing a bank and the "lead man on the job" kills someone then you should go ahead and kill him because if you get caught, your possibility of getting the same sentence for just being present is greater than not. Incarcerating a first time offender, on a second degree murder charge without malicious, premeditated actions is not setting the right example. JUSTICE FOR JUSTIN! Change your laws. Harsher punishment for harsher crimes not equal punishment.

I too have made poor choices and been incarcerated for crimes I did not commit. Though not as severe as the one you were charged with, they still have hurt my reputation and altered my life forever. Prayers for you and your family and I'll share your story with others. Stay strong.

I think he has served more than enough time for his bad decision. Life in prison with no parole is insane and needs to be changed.

I remember Justin as far back as G.W. Carver elementary. I know he did not kill anyone and God will take care of it.

He most definitely deserves a second chance. I can already see in his face he wouldn't dare make that same mistake again. Poor man. He's grown a lot from 19 years of age. Makes me sad because he doesn't deserve life.
